For example, they may recommend that your child will be prescribed hearing aids or implants or suggest speech development, language and occupational therapies where appropriate.

Generally, you should take your child for regular tests at the audiologist during the first few years of their life to confirm that their hearing is good and normal. This way, you can solve the issues with hearing early on to prevent developmental delays and problems in the near future. 

There are many signs that your child is facing problems worth looking out for. These include: 

  • Having trouble to keep up to school work
  • Shouting at inappropriate times or speaking loudly in the quiet environment
  • Trouble paying attention when people are speaking to them
  • Asking people to repeat themselves or saying “what?” frequently
  • Only paying attention when you’re in front of them
  • Facing problems in following basic instructions
  • Lost in the noise of traffic
  • Late reacting to sudden, loud noises in the environment

If your baby happens to have any hearing related problems after the hearing tests, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they have no hearing sense.
